The Truth about "Under God"
What they want you to think: The phrase "under god" in the Pledge of Allegiance violates the separation of church and state. It should be stricken from the pledge, so our nation's youth cannot be flooded with this religious garbage
The Truth: When I first heard about this, I said to myself, "what moron thought this one up?" Lets get one thing straight, now this may shock and awe you, but no where in the constitution does it explicitly say that there must be a separation of church and state. What the constitution says is that the state will not impose one set religion on its people. Now back to the main point. If your an atheist or just plain don't believe in God, just omit that when you say the pledge. The guy behind this was an atheist and said that his kid was getting drowned in a sea of religion. Its just the phrase "under God," its not like the teacher then proceeded to get out a bible and start reading. There is separation of prayer from school. There are many religions here in the U.S. Most have God as the principle deity, some have Allah, some are polytheistic and no one seems to mind saying "Under God" because the pledge was meant to be patriotic, not religious. If the phrase offends you, FUCK YOU! Don't bother leaving the country, because there is no other country that allows this much religious freedom, hell you probably would be shot or hung for not even worshipping the same deity as the rest of the country. Just sit down and shut up. Oh yeah, give your money to someone else, because you more than likely are offended by the phrase, "In God we Trust." The truth is no one cares if its on the dollar, they just want their Pepsi.
Final Summation: "Under God" cannot be in violation of the separation of church and state, because the separation of church and state isn't expressly written into the constitution. If you are offended by it, instead of bitching about it, just don't say it when you recite the pledge again.
note: The Truth Commission is not endorsing a set religion, we are just using the basis of religion to underlie our argument.
