The Truth about the Sanctity of Marriage

What they want you to think: Marriage is the most holiest of holy deeds that a person can perform.  Homosexual marriage will destroy and desecrate the sanctity of marriage.  We should do everything in our power to stop gay marriage.

The Truth: Now, before I begin, the reason I am authoring this isn’t to totally de-sanctify marriage, as I believe that marriage is holy.  Now on to the article… First and foremost: marriage was desecrated the second that someone filed for divorce.  Marriage is supposed to be a bond between two people that lasts until the end of their lives.  Remember, “until death do you part”?  Yeah it doesn’t say, “until divorce do you part”.  So therefore how can a hard-line anti-gay marriage person say that that it would corrupt the sanctity of marriage?  You cannot corrupt what has already been corrupted.  Now, gay marriage in and of itself may warrant a whole different article, but I think I will use parts of the gay marriage debate to back up my facts.  For one thing, whose marriage is more stable: Heterosexual marriage or Homosexual marriage?  If you thought heterosexuals, you guessed wrong (the divorce rate is somewhere around 33%, NOT 50%).  The rate of homosexual divorce is somewhere around 18%.  Someone tell me where is the sanctity of marriage?  It was thrown out the window by the people that say homosexuals are throwing sanctity out the window, a nice game of scapegoating, people too ashamed to say that they themselves helped to de-sanctify marriage by divorcing. If you were stupid enough to marry someone solely on looks, maybe you deserve to be alone.  Marriage is about accepting people for what they have on the inside, not just what is on the outside, I cannot stress that enough.

Final Summation:Before you piss and moan about the growing movement for gay-marriage and how it may de-sanctify marriage, look at your self and see how you’ve attempted to save the sanctity of marriage, chances are you haven’t done anything.
