The Truth about the Atkins Diet

What they want you to think: The Atkins Diet is the best way to lose weight.  By sacrificing carbohydrates you will lose weight.  You must consume more fats and proteins, and you will lose weight.

The Truth: Ok, cutting carbs, in theory, would cause a person to lose weight.  The problem, the Atkins Diet encourages people to consume more protein and fats.  Not only is this craze causing havoc on businesses (any bakery or even Krispy Kreme doughnuts is feeling it). No one wants to buy and product that contains carbs, and then you get these bullshit "low/no carb" products.  They probably taste like shit.  The health concerns with this diet are great.  With the added protein and fat will cause cholesterol levels to go through the roof.  Also with the added fat, your heart will take a toll because the cholesterol will begin to block arteries and lead to heart related problems such as heart disease.  Also Atkins will take a toll in your wallet as well.  For a one day supply of Atkins related food (you know: the shit with the big letter A on it) will cost about about 16 dollars.  That turns into about 6000 dollars a year.  Now, I certainly wouldn't wanna go out and spend 6000 dollars of my hard earned money on dietary goods.  The best way to lose weight?  According to physicians, its through good ol' fashioned exercise and reducing caloric intake (that doesn't mean starving yourself, it just means watch what you eat).

Final Summation: Eating low-carb may help you lose weight, but what's the use if you are going to die from heart problems because you are eating way to much protein and fat.
